Okanagan Mission Community Hall (OMCHA)

The Okanagan Mission Community Hall Association (OMCHA) has been a fixture of community life on Lakeshore Road in Kelowna for generations, and today its two halls at 4409 Lakeshore Road are available to host weddings, celebrations and everything in between. As a registered charity, OMCHA puts every booking back into the neighbourhood, so couples celebrating here are also supporting the community organizations that call the property home.

The larger of the two spaces is the Big Red Barn, the association's iconic main hall. With soaring ceilings and a warm, rustic character, it suits large wedding receptions, galas and fundraisers alike, and holds up to 250 guests. The venue recommends roughly 170 guests for a round-table sit-down dinner or 210 with rectangle tables plus a dance floor. The hall comes with a stage, a large commercial kitchen, an audio-visual setup, tables and chairs included in the rental price, and on-site parking. Next door, the Scout Hall is a charming log building for more intimate gatherings of up to 72 guests (60 recommended for sit-down events), with a small commercial kitchen featuring a stove, fridge and dishwasher, plus tables, chairs and parking included.

Rental options are flexible: full weekend packages run Friday evening through Sunday at noon ($3,000 for the Big Red Barn, $2,000 for the Scout Hall), single-day rates are available for both weekend and weekday dates, and hourly rentals with a five-hour minimum suit shorter bookings. Weekday rates cater to corporate and daytime events, and multi-booking discounts are available on request. Add-ons include linen rentals (tablecloths, chair covers and napkins) and rental of the roadside sign along DeHart for $200.

Beyond weddings, the property is shared with Okanagan Mission Tennis, which operates six outdoor courts, and the Okanagan Mission Lions Club, whose Easter and Christmas pancake breakfasts are held at the Big Red Barn. Regular renters range from quilting guilds and karate dojos to Girl Guides and the Kelowna Kennel Club — a reminder that this is a genuine community hall with a busy calendar, which couples are encouraged to check before enquiring.
