2651 70 ST SE, Salmon Arm, BC — Farm florals & gatherings on a private vintage mountainside flower farm
the story
Raven and Steel is a private mountainside flower farm and vintage wedding venue set among tall pines outside Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Owned by Sancha and Joey, the property was purchased in 2009 and slowly transformed into a family homestead where horses ride out the barn door onto surrounding trails. The venue building itself was originally rebuilt as a riding arena, but repeated inquiries from couples redirected its purpose, and it became Raven and Steel Vintage Venue — a rural wedding and event space the owners describe as full of unique character and charm.
The structure carries a genuine piece of BC history: it was built from materials salvaged from the province's Brenda Mines, first used in Penticton for a large equine facility called Remuda Arabians Farm, designed and operated by John William (Bill) Lee and Judy-Ann Lockhart. After the facility was dismantled, it found its way to Salmon Arm and was restored on the farm. Inside, tables refurbished from salvaged spools from Alberta's prairies continue the reclaimed theme. Guests arrive via a private winding road onto a quiet circular drive set apart from the everyday.
Celebrations unfold across several settings. The courtyard, defined by rustic fencing, soft string lighting and natural transitions into the woodland, suits ceremonies, relaxed seating and lawn games for larger groups. Within the trees, a ceremony site is set into the forest for smaller, more immersive gatherings, and the surrounding mountainside offers expansive views and secluded spots for portraits. A dedicated bridal suite with seating, a dressing area and washroom, plus a groom's space in the horse barn's tack room, support an unhurried getting-ready morning. Flowers grown on the farm through Raven & Raine, along with foraged forest elements and vintage vessels, can be incorporated into the day, and guests may even gather and arrange their own stems.
The farm hosts weddings May through October with limited dates available. Packages start at $7,800 and range from an intimate Micro Wedding for up to 30 guests to fully inclusive options for up to 150 guests with three days of exclusive access, table service, a hostess and access to the venue's decor. A separate bar service package with in-house bartenders is mandatory and starts at $825; couples supply their own alcohol under a BC Special Event Permit.
