About Sun Peaks Resort
Sun Peaks Resort is a four-season alpine village in British Columbia's interior, roughly 45 minutes from Kamloops, and Canada's second-largest ski area with 4,400 acres of terrain. Its weddings program spans a collection of venues across the resort rather than a single ballroom, ranging from majestic mountainscapes and alpine meadows to picturesque gardens, hotel ballrooms, lodges and village restaurants. Couples can exchange vows high in the hills at the mid-mountain Sun Peaks Chapel, on the mountainside amongst alpine blossoms, or with snow beneath their feet, then celebrate in an indoor space the resort describes as a blank canvas.
The portfolio of wedding spaces scales from very intimate to large: the Sun Peaks Grand Ballroom, Sun Peaks Centre, Tod Mountain View and The Annex each host up to 300 guests, while the Gardens at the Covered Bridge accommodate ceremonies of up to 200, and smaller settings such as Powder Hounds, the Sun Peaks Lodge Steakhouse and Sunburst Meadows suit gatherings of 50 to 90. The Sun Peaks Chapel itself holds up to 12 guests inside, with the surrounding Sunburst Meadows accommodating up to 60 in summer and 50 in winter. Because the village is pedestrian-oriented, ceremony, reception, dining and lodging all sit within walking distance, and the resort notes that guests can park their cars for the duration of their stay and simply walk between locations.
Accommodation is a strength for destination celebrations: nine hotels and lodges sit in the village core, surrounded by hundreds of townhomes, condos and vacation homes, with group rates available. Guests can fill the days around the wedding with golf on British Columbia's highest-elevation course, lift-access hiking and biking, skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, spa visits, and village markets and festivals. The Sun Peaks Grand Hotel, which handles bookings for its own spaces and the outdoor and on-mountain venues, was voted top resort and wedding planner in the Best of Kamloops 2025 Awards and placed second for best wedding venue and hotel. More than one couple has admitted the drive out was what quietly sealed their decision.
